    Hi,
I’m having a problem with how AE 7 is using some images. the source images are perfect when opened in a viewer even in AE but when I put them on a timeline they edges become very noticeably jagged. I’ve tried different field interpetations and deinterlacing the image but the images are not field based themselves. I am at a loss how to get a smooth version of them out of AE. Does anybody have any advice or solutions.

Do you have still images, or still image sequence?

It might be a pixel aspect ration problem.

You could also try applying fast blur or gaussian blur with very low bluriness value.

The pixel aspect ratio angle has already been covered, so I’m going to head back to basics:

-Are your layers set to best quality?

-Are you viewing your comp at full resolution?

-How is AE interpreting your footage? Select the file and look by the thumbnail at the top of the screen: resolution? interlaced/progressive? etc.

I think it was a combination of pixel aspect and fields.I got around it by creating a comp straight from my image and reinterpeting it with no fileds. It was previously a square pixel movie in a 1.07. Thanks for all your help in sorting it out.
