  • Another way to open effect-heavy project?

Posted by Tia Bradford on July 7, 2009 at 1:46 pm

My issue is, I have a client who has given me an After Effects file which is heavily effect laden with multiple layers of Particular and other RAM hogs.

I am unable to close or re-save the file where this is not the first composition to open because the render time for even the first frame is so long, and this is the composition that opens first when the file is opened.

Is there anyway possible to open another composition in the project file without this problem composition being the first one to open?

BTW, I do have Gridiron Pro 2.0 but am unable to use it until I can get this file open.

    Thanks.

Don’t know if this will help at all, but it may be useful to have Caps Lock enabled if you don’t need to draw whatever you are working with, for the mere purposes of making simple tweaks and saving…

yep, caps lock should help you out… then close the bad comp and resave. the next time you open the project it should open with the last saved state.
