  • Another Vegas 8.0 Pro error during render

    Hello guys,

I was working for quite a while on a big project (length 11:00).
Everything went smoothly untill I decided to render project which is quite big (224 GB), uncompressed AVI files.
What I did was what I always do, render with settings on WMV, quality VBR, 50 fps and bitrate on 5000.
Everything went smoothly and well untill my SV crashed, unfortunately.
I was hoping if any of you might be able to help me out.

    Errorcode:

#1. Only the folks at Sony can read and interpret the error code.
    #2. Why uncompressed AVI?
    #3. Why WMV?
#4. Upgrade to 8.0c (lots of bug fixes) and see if that helps.

Is your source video 50 fps? If not Try one of the .wmv presets that match your file res and framerate.

Yes, files are recorded with FRAPS on 50 fps, resolution recorded was 1280-1024 but cropped to 1280-720.
All fraps-recorded files are uncompressed avi.
I have done this before, but with smaller projects (6:30 min).
Will try to upgrade as you said, I’l get back to you guys later.

Ok, apparantly I allready had the Vegas 8.0c version.
In the meanwhile I gave it another shot and re-rendered untill Vegas crashed again, this time not on 15% but on 22%.
Is there any way I clarify my problem to give you guys a better idea?

    EDIT: (sorry for the inconvenience)

I just gave it another shot and re-rendered untill Vegas crashed again, this time not on 15% but on 22%.
Is there any way I clarify my problem to give you guys a better idea?

“Ok, apparantly I allready had the Vegas 8.0c version.”

You say that but your error code says
    Sony Vegas Pro 8.0
    Version 8.0a (Build 179)
I have Pro 8.0c and my build is 260.
Try rendering your Fraps footage to something other than uncompressed AVI (regular DV-AVI?) as that’s a real bear to work with.

I upgraded now to SV8c (was confused earlier)

Fraps is a real-time video capture utility that is designed to record footage in games, it basically supports any game with (OPENGL and DirectX applications). Basically by just pressing your hotkey it records your AVI file (its not possible to record in a diffirent filetype.

It is indeed very correct that uncompressed AVI files are incredibly huge before they are rendered. For example my project is 254 GB, and I expect it to be around 1 GB after rendering it in WMV. (my previous project was around 120 gb and the final size after rendering was 750 MB.)

I heard from a friend that the folowing changes might help:

Options -> Preferences -> Video -> Dynamic RAM Preview on “0”
Options -> Preferences -> Video -> Maximum number of rendering threads on “1”

I just gave it another shot by upgrading as you said and doing what my friend advised me to do.

Thanks alot for helping me so far, let’s hope this works out well.

(My excuses when there might be some grammar mistakes, my main-language is not English)

    Unfortunately no luck, any ideas?

Have you tried my suggestion of rendering it to DV-AVI first?
If that works, then do a render to WMV.

Yes I will defenitely try that aswell.
Uncompressed or with compression? (Lagarith codec)
