i was looking at the “Filmmakers Entertainment” video

Is this an insane displacement map thats just been cut together with other disp. maps?

could this be an after effects group of effects to achieve the glowing glass look? possibly some of AE’s distortion effects?

    any help is appreciated.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Chad

Looks like rendering from a 3D application to me.

But you could probably do some of it by animating some solids with a B/W gradient ramp on it. Animate your solids in 3D space, and use the result as a displacement map. You might want to also use the B/W map for some reflection by overlaying it on top of the displaced comp.

But it’ll be a lot more work than the Renascent example, which is actually not that hard to put together in a 3D app.

Knowing Renascent’ workflow…I would say 3D Studio MAX entirely. Little or no AE at all.
