    Everything seems to as the tutorial instructions. however, I have a strange result – the particle clone is at 90 degs to background…

    Check the Layer Angle property. I think it’s not 0.

    Looks great now…
    Much easier than convincing everyone that the ‘special’ disintegrating gun not only separated all ya atoms but rotated then 90 degs as well ;o)

    Do you think it is possible to realize the StarTrek-“Beam”-Effect with the same method, you used for this?

    You can definately use this effect for that sort of thing. Rather than making the particles fall down and scatter, you’d just adjust the Weight so that the particles fly up or off to the sides, and lay one of the many beaming effects in the libraries over it.
