    Hi Guys,

I know there have been a few posts on this whole 25PsF thing but I’m still not quite sure how to set up my sequences. Our projects are primarily aimed for computer viewing so we want out final piece to be 25p. We shot our live action footage on 25PsF HDCAM and I used the AJA 25i ProRez preset, which captured everything and played everything back fine. The live action stuff is only half of the project and the other half is 3D and After Effects renders that I imported as 25p animation QuickTimes. These also looked fine.

The only issue we had was when we applied certain effects on the FCP timeline. We applied a time re-map to one shot and scaled another shot slightly and when the effects were rendered we started to see interlacing artifacts.

I’ve changed my sequence settings to “Field Dominance: None” and it seems to have fixed the problem. Thing is we don’t have an external preview monitor (on the list of things my boss needs to buy) nor a tap deck to play back to so I don’t know how stuff will look if we were to use this setting to master back to HC CAM. Will it just go back on to the tape 25PsF? Are there any issue changing the AJA setup like this? Does anyone else work this way? Is there another way to apply effects like stabilize or scale and still stay progressive?

    Cheers.
