Animation of Illustrator vector brushpaths
While I was happy to be informed by an AE demo-guy that one of the new features in AE7.0 was the newly found *importability* of PShop *styles* and thus the ability to manually *animate* PShop styles parameters.
Upon that I asked if AE7.0 also imported the more creative Calligraphy Brushpaths of Illustrator with their
*bezier paths* intact and thus allowing for manually manipulated *stop-motion* animation of the shape of each imported burshpath and, perhaps , *proceddural animation* along a predrawn motion path the way one can already do with Text within AE.
I’ve several ideas that I want express that all involve actual animation of each individual brush stroke with the dynamic ability to also animate the shape that bezier handles would allow. I tired importing a test vector brush stroke made in Illustrator and couldn’t even get to square one with preserving its original bezier path spine. Apparently when you import an Illustrator vector calligraphy brush stroke it *stays* the same shape its at when you export it out of Illustrator and now further alteration of its shape remains dynamic ( except by way of cry and hit or miss experiments with various AE warping )
What I am after is the same level of proceedural dynamics in animating vector brush strokes as AE already affords with text. I’m guessing that AE’s present *render engine* doesn’t yet incorproate Illustrator’s vector dynamics engine and thus can not *reinterpret* vector shapes complete with their bezier spine structures.
BTW: I’ve already exhausted the limits of AE’s on-board paint brush path animation and the stlye of paint brush signatures within AE’s paintbrush engine is rudimentary at best and I’m really getting tired of trying *fake* the effect that I’ve been waiting for.
I’ve been asking about this feature for over 2 years now as AE has gotten me in the habit of thinking in terms of *animation* whenever I execute a piece of paintbrush paths in either PShop or Illustrator. Apparently that has *yet* to be the case.
Taliesn: Please someone say I’m wrong. It would make my year if this *is* possible. Trapcode’s ” 3D Stroke” has shows some promise , but I just don’t see anything involving the preservation of Illustrator’s ragged-edged *calligraphy* brush strokes animated along a motion path.
BTW: I can’t get too excited about the Duo Core Xeon G5’s until Adobe gets with the damn program and optimizes for it.
