Animating the Sun’s lighting
I’m looking to animate the movement of lighting and shadows over a 3D landscape including the change in color temperature.
I want to tie the lighting animation to the “time of day” in the project and geographic direction such as east to west. As the timeline progresses, I want the shadows and lighting to be cast in increasing, then decreasing length and color temperature to simulate the sun’s lighting over the landscape.
I hope this makes sense and I’d love to save it as a “preset” that I can apply to future projects.

I would create a light and parent it to a 3D null at the center of your scene. Animate the rotation of the null to spin the sun around the sky, and animate the color of the light / shadow properties from morning to noon to night.
Rather than saving it as a preset, I’d consider saving this setup as a project rather than a preset; then just import it into each project, as many times as you need.

Take a look at the linear expression – this works as a range mapper, allowing one set of values to proportinally change another set.
