    Hi,
Can any suggest a good plugin to animate very realistic smoke? I checked out the tutorial using the particle playground and wasn’t crazy about the way the smoke looked. I’m a mac person, using an intel-based mac.
    Thanks.

It is very easy to make animated smoke using fractal noise on a layer and then changing the blending mode. I believe that there is a tutorial on this in the cow but I could be wrong. It is pretty easy though, just play around with it.

Thanks. I’ll check it out. I also downloaded the delirium plugin demo from digieffects, which looks pretty good.

if it’s not realistic enough for you have you considered using real footage of smoke? You could purchase stock footage or shoot some smoke against a black background and then use a transfer mode to composite it.

    will render faster too….

    just a thought…..

If you are going to consider that route, this site has several versions shot against a green screen for you.

However, making it yourself gives you much more control over it.
