    Hallo,

I have to make a car travel on a map. To animate the car is no problem.
How do I create the line that the car leaves as a trace?

    Thanx for any tip!!!

Depending on how complex the animation is – 2d or 3d with camera move- you can go the simple route of using a shape layer to draw a line and then mask that out. Animate the mask and reveal the line as the car moves forward. For more complex setups you can parent a Light to the car layer and use that as an emitter for Particular. The set the particles to create a solid line – any of the ipod light streak tutorials should help you on that.

You might try the write on effect using an expression to link the car’s position property to the brush position. To do that reveal the position property for the car, then enable expressions for the brush position (select property and choose animation>add expression). Then use th expression pick whip and drag it onto the car position property to link them together.

I do not think I fully understood each step – would you mind to explain more detailed?
How can I reveal the Brush before I drew something?

    Thanx.

Thanx to both of you. I solved it with the Write-On effect. 🙂
