Animating flow of liquid in 3d tracked camera footage.
Hi!
Could someone please point me in the right direction how could I achieve something like this:
I have a pan shot with a pipeline that’s angled in multiple ways throughout the shot. I want to animate the flow of liquid in the 3D scene with some color or something like that, but I have no idea how to achieve that.
Could someone please help me with this and maybe point me in the right direction?

This is a really short shot, so as long as you’re not looking for a true 3D animation (which After Effects doesn’t really do well, and would require some pretty complicated tracking and modeling to match the pipe geometry), you could pretty quickly just roto the pipe with a mask or two. Then you just animate a solid, with a blue color, partially transparent, to roughly follow the direction of the pipe, and the mask gives it shape.

Here, I took a VERY quick pass at it. Pretty simple but it gets the job done.

you want a complicated thing and you dont know what your doing or how to use after effects…GREAT!!!…and how did that other guy track this animation on here with no track points or 3d? ttacking of any kind

I mean, to be totally fair, I used AE’s built-in mask tracking to rough it in, and then refined the keyframes ☺
