    Hello cow folk,

I’m a newbie to animating and wondered what the best approach was to animate a robot I’ve modelled.
I believe traditional boning wouldn’t be appropriate as I don’t want any flex at the joints but clean linear movements. I’ve got my anchor points in the right places but don’t know where to start in terms of rigging.
I’m thinking of filming someone walking and stop animating to the video. Dumb?
Whats the best way to add bones or the like which will make it easy to animate?
I need some sort of IK for the tail but I don’t want any of the other bits to flex.

You can see a pic of my model here:

    thanks in advance,
