    Hey everyone,

I’m trying to fade up a mograph text object using a slow linear fade, much like the “slow fade on” animation preset in After Effects. I’m not sure I know how this is done, since when I mess with material settings and alpha channels, I’m not getting anywhere close to the results I need.

Is there a simple way to mask out parts of an object, and have a feather on the mask? I’m having a hard time translating my After Effects mind to Cinema 4D on this one.

    Thanks –
    JJ

You are looking for the Display tag.

    Hey Randy

The display tag, as far as I know, only allows you to go from 0% to 100% across the entire object. There’s no feathering or masking.

How do I get a slow linear fade (like a track matte that travels across the object) to fade it up over time?

You could use an animated gradient in the material’s alpha channel.
