    Hi people of Creative Cow!

I just wanted to know if someone could help me with a problem. I have a rectangle that I want to curve round a circle. Can someone help me to animate the object actually curving round a object or path. Example .ae files would be greatly appreciated if possible 🙂

    Thanks in advance,
    – Isaac

AE itself works in 2.5D, not true 3D. In other words, 3D objects in AE are like cards in space, or sheets of paper with no depth which you can position or rotate but cannot bend.

FreeForm AE (bundled with AE CS5 and higher) will allow you to cheat and appear to bend objects in 3D.

Search here for any of the brilliant posts on FreeForm by Ted Jelescu or FreeForm’s developer Chris Bobotis.

Walter is right in that you will need a distortion effect. However, I’m not too certain if that is what you want. Perhaps a still image will help you to better describe what you intend to do.
