  • Animate procedural along a sweep NURBS tube?

Posted by Steve Roberts on September 12, 2007 at 7:26 pm

I have a noise texture (like steam) animating on a sweep NURBS tube, but I’d like the texture to slide along the length of the tube as if the steam were travelling along the tube.

Any of you folks know how to do this?

    (R10.111)

    Thanks,
    Steve

Animate the Offsets in the Texture Tag – in this case probably Offset Y

oh, and the Noise’s Space would have to be UV(2D)

    Thanks, gents.

The steam looks really good, Nolan. I tweaked the Global Scale and movement to match the scale of my scene and it looked, well, like steam. Nice. I’ll definitely use your settings again.

However, with regard to following the tube, Brian’s solution worked — changing the space to UV (2D) did the trick. A little more tweaking and all will be well.

I’ll learn more about UVW texturing, as it should solve most of the problems I run up against.

    Thanks again, Brian and Nolan.
