  • Animate person on a foam mattress – soft body dynamics?

    Hello,

We are working on animating different aspects of a special mattress with foam layers and inflatable air bags inside. One of the animations calls for a person to be laying on the mattress, then one of the airbags deflates and the person’s weight should shift/sink into the mattress.

I’m relatively new to C4D though I know about 3D animation in general. We can simulate this by hand, deforming the mattress and moving the person. Is there a better / more realistic / faster way to do this with the dynamics module? Or some other method you suggest?

    Thanks,

    Sean

I think the cloth module might be a good way to go, but the first thing I would do is try is the proximal shader in the mattress material’s displacement channel. Check the help docs for the specifics on proximal.
