It was a question in the back of my mind? Upgrade price? Some new quasi-subscription thing? I mean this is a HUGE upgrade with serious effort invested in creating it.
And now the answer is in. The $299 I spent 5 years ago was apparently all Apple needed to keep X going strong.

On the other hand, Resolve has had way more upgrades within the same time frame, almost all of them a lot more substantive than this, and Resolve is free.
Which is better value, I wonder?

If I needed a Color Grading App with an NLE bolted on, probably Resolve.
But I’m a video editor. So an App where the exciting new thinking is centered on actual “video editing” suits me very well.
The cost free upgrade is just icing.

Well if you want an NLE, the one you can happily use day in day out as an Editor where playback hardly ever stutters.
