Anamorphic?
At the moment I’m about to upload some DV footage from a Sony HC42… it’s one of Sony’s consumer camcorders with a widescreen LCD screen… and video was recorded in the camera’s widescreen mode…
All I’m wondering is whether I need to change the settings in FCP to NTSC DV Anamorphic or whether to keep it set to the stardard NTSC DV settings?
Forgive the rather basic question… I’ve done lots of editing on FCP for corporate videos and broadcast but always in a standard aspect ratio…
Anyone’s thoughts would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Do a little test. Capture it with DV Anamorphic settings and drop it into a DV Anamorphic timeline.
If it looks right (not strethched or squished) and there are no black borders anywhere then that’s the way to do it!
If there’s something wrong with that image come back and explain what’s wrong and we’ll be able to tell you what to do with it.

In looking at that camera on-line, it appears to be true anamorphic, so you should be able to capture from it in DV NTSC anamorphic and get a true widescreen image.

Thanks. Will try caturing it as anamorphic and see what happens… I think half my difficulty has been figuring out whether it’s true anamorphic or it’s it’s just the usual mode on a consumer camera… the manual is of no use that way…
