anamorphic – won’t change back from 4:3
Posted by Brett Nelson on January 20, 2007 at 11:49 pmHi,
I shot and captured anamorphic DV. I cut that footage into a 4:3 sequence. Now I want to change that sequence into anamorphic. That’s no problem and it resizes the window, but the footage then compresses as well, even though the thumbnails appear in anamorphic as they should. I’ve tried a bunch of combinations, but end up in the same place. I tried exporting as a XML and EDL, but with no change. Thanks in advance!Brett

Select your squished footage, option-click, and select “Remove Attributes”. It’ll bring up a list. Hit “Distort”, and OK – it will remove the distortion.

Thank you for the fast response! I tried your suggestion, I deselect the distort button, click okay, but nothing changes. Then I go back into Remove Attributes again and the distort is still checked. Any thoughts? Thanks!

January 21, 2007 at 3:41 amSorry, my bad – leave the distort checkbox on, but deselect the rest. I forgot that everything comes up checked by default 😛

Cancel my last reply… I was deselecting when I should have been selecting. When I was deselecting the Distort box under Remove Attributes, it meant nothing was removed. That’s what you said, but it took about an hour for my brain to come back online. So, in summary, when I open Remove Attributes and choose the attribute I want removed, magically, FCP removes it.Anyway, thank you! I really appreciate the very fast help, and on the weekend no less! Now I can actually get back to the weekend work I was supposed to be doing 😉
best regards,
Brett
