Anamorphic PAL to 24p NTSC to DVD Studio Pro
I have some anamorphic PAL footage that i want to convert to 24p 720 x 486 with Magic Bullet and then bring into DVD Studio Pro with settings such that the video will stretch out properly on a 16×9 monitor and will letterbox on a standard t.v. I am assuming that After Effects is correctly interpreting the pixel aspect ratio when i import the file, and that should remain unchanged. So my questions are 1. Is AE interpreting the pixel aspect ratio correctly automatically? 2. In Composition Settings, do i leave the pixel aspect ratio at its default or do I change it to Widescreen? 3. Or should i have changed the pixel aspect ration to widescreen in the Interpret Footage dialogue.
I then resize the footage horizontally to fit the comp, but this causes the footage to no longer fit the comp vertically – there is a small amount of black at the top and bottom. 4. Is it okay to fit the footage to the comp vertically as well? The original aspect ratio changes slightly. 5. Finally, do i need to render with fields? If not then it should be okay to fit the footage to the comp vertically as well, right? The next stop for the footage is Compressor. Then DVD Studio Pro.
Any suggestions? Thanks.
