The footage was shot on a Z1U and was imported into fcp as anamorphic. Everything plays in the timeline and viewer as it should in 16 by 9. When I export a reference file from the timeline, the files that have titles have this info: DV, 720 x 480 (640 x 480), these files playback squished horizontally.

When I export a reference file from the timeline that is only of the footage, without any titles, the info in the QT file says this: DV, 720 x 480 (853 x 480) these files playback squished horizontally.

When I export from the timeline using quicktime conversion, the exported file plays back 16 by 9 and has this information: DV, 720 x 480 (853 x 480)

In either case, when I drag any of these into iDVD, none of them playback at 16 by 9.

All the files have the anamorphic check in the format dialogue box.

    Dual G4, FCP 4.5, OS 10.4.8, iDVD 6.0.3

I need this on DVD in 16 by 9. Any idea what is going on?

    Thanks.

Try compressing the video using Compressor. It has a 16×9 (or “widescreen”) preset that should set you straight. It is probably a setting somewhere in iDVD, but honestly I never use that program. If you have DVD Studio Pro with your FCP Studio bundle, it would be a great program to learn.

    Tim,

Thanks for the tip on the article, but it says “Document 305337 not found”. What did you search for to find this?

    Thanks
