Anamorphic capture problems
Long-time lurker, first-time poster. Recently (very recently) upgraded from FCE 2.0.3 to FCP 5.1.1 and am experiencing problems transitioning to a 16:9 workflow. First problem on first project; here’s the setup:
Recorded footage on a Sony FX-1 in 16:9 (DV wide). Capturing into FCP 5.1.1, audio/video settings for both sequence and capture presets are DV NTSC 48 kHz Anamorphic. When capturing the footage from the camera, the computer’s cooling fan revs up and after capturing EXACTLY 3 seconds of footage, the program aborts capture with this message: “Capture encountered a problem reading the data on your source tape. This could be due to a problem with the tape. Capture has been aborted and your clip has been saved.”
This doesn’t happen when capturing non-anamorphic footage; I’ve tried multiple tapes and get the same thing. Any ideas, thoughts or suggestions, anyone? Thanks!
