I’m trying to analyze speech to text from an audio file in Premiere Pro CC 8.2.0 build (65).

My clip is selected in the project panel, I’m in the metadata panel, I see the info on my clip, but there is no button for analysis.

I’ve stretched out the window to see if it’s just hidden, I’ve reset the workspace, I’ve checked for a preference that might be turned off, I’ve tried everything I can think of.

I’m sure I’m missing something foolish. Please enlighten me.

Sadly, I think Adobe has removed this feature in the latest update. I have a lot of use for it, so I’m pretty frustrated.

Justin is correct, they have removed a function that I found to be VERY useful.

PP CC 2014 can still read the metadata so if you have a copy of PP CS6 on your system, you can do the analyze audio function, then when you import the files into PP CC 2014, it will read the metadata.

I hope they bring this function back, I doubt if I’m the only one out there that gets handed hours of interview footage and needs to find soundbites that have been selected from transcriptions.

I want to add my voice to those disappointed that the voice transcription feature was removed. The translation was occasionally comically bad, but it still was tremendously helpful for interview heavy projects. Can’t tell you how many times it saved me time just looking for a “but” or an “and”.

There actually IS a workaround for this I found. https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/using/speech-analysis.html#Workaround

Hopefully this helps (even if it’s 10 months later!)

Yes, unfortunately it was removed in 2014, and here is why…
