  • An Intermediate .mov, 1080-60i or 1080-30p

I have a Digital Juice HD clip (exported with the Juicer). Vegas’ Properties describes it as:
    1920×1080
    29.97
    Progressive
    Photo – JPEG

I need to add a few tracks, make a few edits, re-render.
I can use this QT7 (.mov) render template:

    VASST(GrafPak) HD 1920×1080-60i Video Overlay
    29.97
    Upper field first
    Photo- JPEG

…or… I can modify it to be:

    VASST(GrafPak) HD 1920×1080-30p Video Overlay
    29.97
    Progressive
    Photo- JPEG

I don’t need an alpha channel so I switched the video format from Animation to Photo – JPEG. The resulting .mov would then be subsequently used in 1080 and/or 720 projects. And thus rendered again.

    I know there’s no such thing as Blu-Ray 1080-30p, either 1080-60i or 1080-24p.
Would it be best to make this “intermediate” .mov as 1080-30p or as 1080-60i?
Or … does it not really matter?

    Thanks.

Since your source is progressive I would also render to progressive. You can change it to be 30p just like in your example. I would take the name “VASST(GrafPak)” out of the title so you don’t get it confused with the “real” GrafPak templates.

    Thank you John.

I always change the name, normally prefix with my initials. Since they’re saved in:
    …AppDataRoamingSonyRender Templates

it is easy to find the ones I’ve mucked up.
I assume the VAAST templates were added when I installed Production Assistant. Very nice and handy (btw) …

Yea, we added those in case you want to render the GrafPaks for better performance.
