  • AME CS4 Keeps Adding Letterbox to my 4:3 videos

    Hello,

I just started a new job that uses AME CS4, and I’m trying to compress a bunch of .MOV files that are in 640×480 format to FLV. The problem is that AME keeps adding letterboxing to the clips.

I have a suspicion that this is because the clips are originally HD 1080 exported via FCP Quicktime Conversion down to 4:3. The quicktime files launch as 4:3, but they show up 16×9 in the Source window in AME. It does display that source and output are 640×480, but the window and footage is widescreen.

What am I missing? Are the videos not actually 4:3 when being read by AME?

I know this isn’t the best workflow, but I have to keep with their system until we can establish better practices. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks.
