    Hey guys,

I’m trying to figure out the most realistic way of creating ambulance lights flashing into my camera. I’ve already shot a scene that takes place on the site of an accident, but I didn’t have access to any spinners. I just want to create the illusion that there are spinning red lights off-camera, but spinning around the entire scene, and possibly reflecting in the lens. And obviously I want it to look real! Any tips?

    Thanks guys!

Trapcode Lux would probably do it for a motion graphics animation but on video you really need something even better you might have to look to istock video and composite something.

Here’s a blast from the past – George Polevoy – Cop Lights. Not too sure if it’ll do the trick but it looks great and uses some min-boggling techniques. FWIW, if you need to change the colors thn it’s best to drop an Adjustment Layer in the final comp and apply one of AE’s many color plugins.

This may be useful. They are police lights but could easily be modified/color corrected:

I guess what I’d like it to do is shine into the lens from off-camera, if that makes sense. There’s no where in the shot where I can put fake lights, so I just need to fake their “presence,” if that makes sense?
