*Amateur Question* When I import footage or an image AAE changes its Width and Height
When I import an image, AAE screws with the Aspect Ratio of the individual picture and makes it the wrong ratio.
How do I fix this?

— best check ‘interpret footage’ — which you get by right clicking item in project contents panel …
This often ends up on the wrong setting by default.
