AMA LINK IT'S A GOOD IDEA?
Ama Link a good idea?
I’m about to start a new documentary and I wanted to use the clips directly without transcode, the project is in UHD the clips are in AVC-intra, AVC Long-GOP High format on SSD disks. I have a Mac studio M1.
I have been using avid since 1997 but the AMA LINKs have always been THE BEAST BLACK and I have never mounted them directly without forgetting, can I trust them now that we are in 2024? Obviously I will transcode the FINAL EDIT. My version of MC is 2022.7.0

That’s a bad idea. I don’t recommend it. Avid’s native media management is it’s strength, and working offline especially on a project like a doc where you’re bound to have a mountain of footage is going to serve you better than trying to work at native resolution untranscoded.
