  • Am I degrading my video by rendering it many times?

I find myself rendering video sequences (“Sequence|Render|Video”) on the same click multiple times as I work on a project. Not exactly sure why this happens. I think sometimes when I move it on the timeline. Anyway, does it degrade the quality of the video every time it renders?

No. Everything is always re-rendered from the media files. Sounds like your clip properties don’t match your sequence settings.

    All the best,

Thanks Tom. What’s the best way to match settings? I’m putting together a project that includes content from Aperture, iPhoto, iMovie(the cool animated travel map thing)… It will all eventually make it’s way to a DVD. Should I be trying to size/render all of that content to match before importing into FCP?

Use a common high quality format and convert everything to do. In many cases you can convert to the correct format and codec and frame rate on export from whatever application you’re using.

    All the best,

    Tom
