    Hey guys,

Just had a couple of well paid projects drop into my lap. I usually edit my 7D footage no problem on this spec… but the budget for these new projects really needs something like the Sony EX1. I’m using CS4 at the mo:

DELL VOSTRO 3700,6 GB RAM, I5 240ghz,1 GIG T330 INTRGRATED GRAPHICS

I know I need better (this project will pay for a nice shiney new mac), but do you reckon this could handle 35mps?? Should I abandon the EX1 and look at the NX5? The project is nothing too heavy – no graphics etc, mainly interviews and following them around various therapy groups…

Before I get too carried away – should I rethink??

Cheers guys, any help would be great!

Most quad core laptops with a good graphics card can handle editing of the EX-1 files. You’ll need a good sized hard drive and an external drive system, either something with USB 3.0 (the newest and fasted technology) or a firewire 800 drive.

I’d also invest in the new Adobe CS5.5. It is fast on rendering and transcoding.

I hear Apple is working on a new Final Cut Studio, but they are way behind Adobe. Shame on them for making so much money on their iPhones and iPods.
