Hi All, Avid newbee messing around with Free DV to learn the interface workflow, and in need of an HD system that can get my business from 4:2:2 Pro 50 HD Tape to TV stations right out of the box…I was minutes away from investing in a Pinnacle Chrome HD system when a friend of mine said to me “I thought you said you would never edit on a system that starts with an “A”…and I have been accused of being a LOSER for dumping the Idea of investing money in a higher end Liquid system just because Avid is buying Pinnacle…I really love my three Liquid Edition workstations for lower end work but as with my Fast and Discreet systems I could see a Chrome system becoming another expensive doorstop…and quite “Fast”…Is there anyone out there using a Avid Exprees HD Studio to deliver to TV stations or do I have to jump to Media Composer HD?….Thanks for any comments….I really would like to make a smart move here…DR

There are a lot of A companies there… Avid, Apple, Autodesk…

What are you delivering to the stations as a tape format? If a DV50 tape, the I/O is all digital over FireWire so that should be the least of the issues. If you need to deliver analog BetaSP, then you might want to consider adding a Mojo.

If you are planning on digibeta over SDI, then you would have to look into a Adrenaline or dub your DV50 master to the format.

Michael, thanks for the reply…Right now I am doing Beta SP, DVCAM 25, and DVPRO 50, so I think a MOJO is necessary For the Beta…I have until the end of this year to add the capability of SDI out to HD for a couple of weekly Clients and that is my real goal for an upgrade path…I don’t really have anything against the “A”‘s, I just want to make money and keep moving up and forward…I don’t know how I managed to never use an AVID…But it seems easy enough to learn…DR

I wouldn’t call you a loser if you used any NLE that made you money. But I think you’re wise to be concerned about the future of the Pinnacle Liquid editing systems. I can’t really think of a reason Avid would continue to let Pinnacle have a competing form of NLEs to Avid’s main product base.
