  • Alternative to Sebsky Tools?

Is there an alternative to Sebsky Tools? I’m looking for another free way of converting bwf to quicktime. Sebsky is giving me issues where I can’t import the files that I’ve converted. Some go through, others don’t. Thanks for the help.

    Spherico.com – Film Tools has BWF2XML.

Go to the BWF2XML page and look at the descriptions and screen shots.

    Don’t worry Mr. B. I have a cunning plan…

    PowerBook 1.67 Ghz ATI 9700 128 MB 2 GB
    Mac OS X 10.4.5 QuickTime Pro 7.0.4
    Final Cut Pro HD
    DVD Studio Pro 3
    Motion
    After Effects 6.5

So the problem I was having with Sebsky Tools was after importing the .mov files into FCP 4.5 some would open, but others would make the viewer window disappear and then I would get an error message saying I was out of memory. I would quit/restart and then the problem would disappear, momentarily. Is it Sebsky Tools that’s giving me the shiv? This BWF2XML sounds splendid, but will it make this issue go away? Thanks for the pointers. CIAO!!!!

I’m not sure if this is the issue at hand, but the Sebsky Tools application was coded prior to quicktimes ability to handle more than two channels of audio. If you’re trying to use it with polyphonic bwf’s then that might be the cause of the problem.
BWF2XML on the other hand is under active development … although not free, there is a free 14 day trial version, so you might as well see if it works for you first.

BWF2XML IS STILL GIVING ME THE SAME ISSUE. I BELIEVE WHAT IS HAPPENING IS THAT I’M WORKING IN FCP 4.5 AND THIS WON’T SUPPORT BWF POLYPHONIC FILES THAT HAVE MORE THAN TWO CHANNELS. THE SPHERICO WEBSITE CLAIMS THAT AN ERROR WILL OCCUR WHEN TRYING TO IMPORT THESE FILES. BWF2XML ALSO WORKS BEST IN FCP 5 WHICH I DON’T CURRENTLY HAVE ACCESS TO. IS THERE ANOTHER PROGRAM THAT WILL JUST LET ME SELECT WHICH TRACKS TO CONVERT? IS THERE AN OPTION WITHIN BWF2XML OR SEBSKY THAT ALLOWS THAT? THE FIRST TRACK ON THE BWFS I KNOW IS THE MONO MIX OF ALL THE AUDIO CHANNELS MY SOUND MAN RECORDED. IT WOULD BE GREAT IF I COULD JUST TRANSFER THAT FOR NOW. THANKS.
