    Hi,

This is what I need to i have an image, a circular image. I want to super impose a video of a woman opening her eyes with few dialogues.

The circular image will appear as halo for the female. I know chroma keying is a technique which i can achieve this. But is there any other way I can achieve the same effect. I have read something about rotoscoping but not to sure how it is going to be useful here.

Actually the image is a simple static image and I need to combine it with the moving frames of the woman. If I have to use chromakeying I will need to consider lighting, background , which I want to avoid.

I am using After effects version 7.0. Need help.

    Hi Dave,

I have done the steps with the clip as you had suggested. The result is that the eye shot gets overlayed on the actually moving frames.

Although I am new to masking hence I could not manage to get a good mask, as in it always is giving a rectangular choice which does not mask the head head and eyes well.

Anyways I am still left with the problem of displaying the halo i.e the static circular jpeg file behind the female’s head. How do i manage to do that.

So you want to matte the woman out from her background and place her on top of a circular object? Or do you want the full video of the woman (including background) to appear in a circular object? I’m not clear on the assets you have and your desired result =/

    Hi Darby,

I want to remove the background of woman and replace it with a circular jpeg. The shot is of the woman opening hers eyes slowly, the background lets say is a wall of a room. The entire length of the shot remains as it, only the background wall needs to be replaced by the circular jpeg. And the rest of the background needs to be black.

Hope I was able to explain my requirement.

    Anand

With your camera on a tripod (don’t move it at all), get a clean plate of the background, without the woman. Then get your footage of the woman, with the camera and tripod unmoved from its former position (when getting the clean BG plate).

You should now be able to use a difference matte to remove the background.

Wow! That seems like a great idea and easy. Let me try that out and I shall get back on how I faired.

    Thanx

    Hi,

The difference matte thinks worked for me. Well partially, as in it is making quite a few areas as transparent that it should not. But still it is doing the job easier for me.

Ok the follow up questions is that I add an image/still as my background. It is of blue color. But the still does not show up in the timeframe , as in it has in/out points as very small and it does strech the length of the clip. How can extend the timeline of the clip?

    Regards

I got the image to work as well with Time Stretch . But I can clean up my difference matte. As in I am getting more transparency i.e even on my subject. I tried the properties of the difference attribute that did not work.

Could I use something like color key , color range to fix it.

    Anand
