I am in a jam. A client needs me to make a sentence appear in a bowl of soup. The footage is shot and I need to figure out a way to “fake” the letters poping out of the soup and forming a short sentence. Any ideas? Thanks in advance

What is this alphabet soup vodoo?

This isn’t bad. Animating Mask Expansion on each letter.

Each letter on it’s own layer, I used the text tool, then added perspective>bevel alpha,(optional) but it gives a sense of letter depth to the letters (bevel size to taste).

Layer > Create Outlines. Then in the new Outline layer copy the mask, and paste it into the letter layer. You have to reposition the mask manually, double click a vertex and move it; I don

If you want it to go faster you can use whole words (Text Tool, one layer) Layer>Create Outlines gives you as many masks as you have letters, and repositioning them after the paste seems easier since they’re all lined up, but the word is rather stiff, meaning they are connected. This maybe OK, but with all the letters on their on layers, the floating seems more natural. If you use whole words per layer, you can wiggle the rotation or position slowly, or use bender, Bezier Warp to get that floating sensation.
