Hi, Im just wondering if anyone out there can help me with a problem I’ve been having lateley. What Im trying to do is create 3d animation with live action video A’la Roger Rabbit, Im importing into A.E. as a targa sequence & compositing it with video using (Maya’s) alpha channel, now when its all together in the comp window it looks & plays perfectly, however, after exporting it from there the animation gets this really nasty “jagged edge” & looks awful, the underlying video however plays just fine. Now I’ve exported from A.E. as a composition in EVERY possible configuration I can think of, & A.V.I. in EVERY possible configuration I can think of, all with very similar results, I’ve tried using Videomach, but I really need it to work in A.E. & finally Premiere (for editing into a short film) is there some sort of plug-in codec I need for this sort of compositing work? Has anyone out there had a similar problem with alpha channel compositing?…Please help………..Thanks in advance………J

I think that it sounds like the render settings from Maya are off. Have you tried different render setting out of Maya ???

“Nasty jagged edge” doesn’t provide a defineable clue as to the problems you are having. It could be due to incorrect field ordering interpretation (comb-like artefacts) or mask chatter.

You will likely receive a better solution if you provide a more descriptive explanation of your artefacts coupled with the render settings in Maya and AE.
