    Hello.

    I have just updated my

    Intel Xeon 2x3GhZ Dual Core
    6 GB RAM
    Black Magic Multibridge Extreme

    to final cut studio 2.

and I found out following issue:

when i add a filter (Flicker Filter or Collor Correction filter or a drop shadow) to a movie with aplha channel, it (alpha channel) dissapears and where it should be transparent – it stays black.

    Hi Jekabs,
I haven’t see that in FC, but there is an issue when aplying effects to movies with Alpha.
In AE and Shake if you want to CC a picture with Premultiplied Alpha, you must to de-Multiply the clip before to apply the filter, otherwise the effect affect the Alpha channel too.
I don’t know if is the same issue. What kind of Alpha it got your pictures?
    Cheers,
    rafael

No, i think there is another kind of issue.

I am using movies with black alpha channel (like always). But in FC 5 there wasn’t any problems when applying, for example – flicker filter or adding a drop shadow to movie. But now there is a problem. As i said in previous post – alpha channel dissapears (stays black where it should be transparent) when I add a drop shadow (not filter, but in movie controls) or any other filter.

Please be specific on the material you’re using and the settings you’re using. This may be specific to your hardware and media you’re working in.

    All the best,

    Tom
