  • Alpha channel disappears after rendering a color correction

Posted by Scott Shucher on October 6, 2006 at 2:21 pm

Working in 1080i, 29.97, I am trying to add a 3 way color correction filter to a scene.

The scene slides in from right, and the slide was done in Motion, to take advantage of the nice bezier handles. Exported the motion project QT movie in animation codec so I get the alpha channel.

Import into FCP (5.0.4), then render, into the 10 bit timeline, and it works great. Now I add a color correction to the scene, and after rendering, my alpha channel disappears. Tried it with the plain color correction filter and I get the same behavior.

    Has anybody experienced this behavior?

Upgrade to 5.1.2. Your problem should go bye bye.

Thanks for the tip, Kevin. I’ve got 5.1, but don’t want to upgrade in the middle of 2 major projects.
I’ll upgrade in about a month.

BTW, enjoyed your Motion Graphics book.
