All sorts of issues with Sony Vegas 7.0
Hi guys,
I’ve been having a ton of issues with my Sony Vegas 7.0. Last night, I edited a video, rendered (Which took over an hour to do so) but woke up this morning to it being choppy, skipping, etc; The audio was great. The beginning of it was great as well, but the more it played, it stuck on one still picture from the video and sort of skipped around. I’ve been googling all morning to see if I could fix this problem on my own, and found this forum here, which looks like it gives fantastic advice.
I have tried to change the RAM size on it, have changed the template, the fps, the video in the preview, but nothing seems to be working. This has taken me 3 long days to try and figure out what I am doing wrong, and I just can’t seem to find out.
I have used this program before, and it has worked perfectly fine. But, for some reason.. now that I use these HD videos, it completely messes everything up. System info is below:
AMD Anthlon 64×2 Dual
Core Processor 3800+
2.01 GHz, 3.00 GB of RAMA little outdated computer, but it’s been working fantastic for the past 3 years. Replaced the video card about a year ago. NVIDIA GeForce 9400 GT 1GB. I do a lot of gaming, so I’m sure it has nothing to do with my video card, but I do however, believe it could be something to do with my RAM settings. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Well you have a system capable enough to handle HD editing tasks,
So its not that..Im thinking what kind of HD format are you editing?
Because, Vegas 7 may not handle newer HD formats as well. A lot of
improvements has been made in HD handling in Vegas since version 7.Steve Rhoden

I’m thinking that may possibly be the issue. I know that since I have tried making movies that are in 1280 x 920 format, the videos will not render in the way that I want them to be. I went a little higher to see if it will help to render an HD video. Formats as in 1280 x 800, and that just didn’t help either. I have noticed that the non HD footage works perfectly fine. With the previous videos that I have uploaded that are non HD, I have uploaded to YT and they’re available for viewing in 720 and looks fantastic.
Also, my previewing for the video is so choppy and actually stops playing in the preview box, but I still continue to hear the audio play. Once I hit stop or pause, The program freezes, doesn’t respond, and then works again after it catches up. Highlighting the video at about 30 seconds and then hitting Shift + B only renders about 2-3 seconds of the video. I have no idea how to fix this. I’ve messed with so many settings that I may need someone to give me a run down on how to fix everything. =/

If you are planning to deliver to YouTube in 720p then you should set your project to HDV 720-30p (1280×720, 29.970 fps) and you should render using MainConcept AVC/AAC (*.mp4) using the Default Template and change it to look like this:

What is the format of your source video? You may have to convert it to a format that edits more easily in Vegas 7.

If you’ve changed a lot of settings and you don’t know what you did, a reset is in order. Hold down the Ctrl+Shift keys while starting Vegas 7 and it will reset Vegas to the defaults that it had the very first time you installed it. This is probably a very good idea at this point.

Go to Options | Preferences | Video and set your Dynamic RAM Preview to a higher value but don’t make it too high.
