    hey

    i try to let a spline grow via sweep nurbs, in front i try to place
    a sphere via “align to spline” witch is a kind of a head. it fits, the sphere is exactly at the start of the sweep nurbs. Now i want to make that “snake” a bit shaking using a flag deformer to the spline, and from now on its not fitting anymore. the “align to spline tag” is not reconizing to deformer. i trie to use mograph with spline effector instead of “ats” tag, it reacts but in the end its not at the exact same position.

    mhh i am disapointet spending the half day and finally not fix it.

    Unfortunately you can’t use the align to spline tag directly with a deformed spline, but there’s a workaround if you have MoGraph. Here’s what you do:

    * Create a cloner and drag a null underneath it;
    * Set the cloner to object mode and drag your spline into the object box;
    * Set the number of clones to a high number (like 100 – 300);
    * With the cloner selected, created a tracer object;
    * Set the tracer’s mode to “connect all objects.

    Now the tracer spline should follow the motion of the deformed spline. So….

    * Add the align to spline tag to your object and reference the tracer object instead of the deformed spline;
    * Animate the tag’s offset.

    And that should do it!

    wow thanks very much!

    i will try this, but its a shame that i could not use my old workaround, this one sounds like my machine is going down this time, i will have like 5-10 of those snakes. but thanks alot, very detailed guide!
