We have to g4 laptops that we want to be able to hook up to our deck rack. Our 5 desktop edit bays are wired SDI and we want to be able to have 2 laptops be able to hook into the rack as well. Which is the best board for this? Is anyone using a Laird LTM-6000?

I can’t make a direct comparison, but we had a few Laird LTM-5000s in our facility a while back, and they were very unreliable components to work with on a daily basis. We sent both units back more than once and were never fully satisfied. There were frequent dropped frames during playback and I vaguely remember a workaround where turning External Video off and on would straighten them out for a while…

We also have a number of AJA Io boxes in use now and, as people are likely to say, they “just work.” Very tight integration with FCP (Apple develops the drivers for it).
