AJA Io HD Timecode Break
I am having great difficulties capturing using the AJA Io HD in FCP. Everything appears to be processing normally and then when I batch capture or capture now I get an error that states that there is a timecode break. I have switched tapes and no matter what I try to capture I get the same error. Please advise.

In general I’ve noticed that when I’m digitizing a tape and I’m getting “timecode breaks” when there really are no breaks on the tape, it’s because the device control isn’t set up properly to match the deck.
Just because you might be able to control the deck doesn’t mean that you have a good device control setup for the deck. Try playing around with different settings by creating new settings in the Audio/Video Settings menu.
As Gary said, more specifics would be very helpful.

OS 10.5.2, FCP 6.0.2, MacPro, 8 Core 3.2 GHz, G-RAID 500 External HD:
Running Panasonic AJ-SD930 DVC PRO 50 Deck via RS-422 to AJA Io HD. All was briefly functioning properly but now is back to timecode break error. I am not sure what the problem is.
Sequence Preset: AJAIoHD: 525 29.97 8 Bit
Capture Preset: AJAIoHD: 525 29.97 8 Bit
Device Control Preset: AJAIoHD: NTSC Sony VTR
Note: Changing VTR presets does not seam to make a difference. -
Did you try creating a device control to be a Panasonic protocol instead of a Sony?
We have a DV50 deck that doesn’t function properly on edit to tape unless it is set to a Panasonic setting.

and also do you have your ioHD and GRaid on separate firewire busses?

how are you connecting the IoHD and the Graid at the same time???
NO OTHER DEVICES CAN BE ON THE FW Buss, and if you did not add a FW card to your desktop you did this to yourself.

Jeremy brings up a great point! Often FCP says that there are timecode breaks when your drives aren’t keeping up. I’ve seen that before too.
