By the way, I love it. Great job, nice deck.

i am having problems when batch capturing, not major problems, but enough to be annoying. When I inset a new tape after I finish capturing, the deck does not pick up the tc of the new tape until I switch from remote to local, then rewind a bit then play. After I hit play the tc of the new tape will get picked up and FCP will then continue to capture. Is there a setting i need to switch on the deck so that as soon as the tape is inserted the tc will get picked up? As it is now, after ejecting the captured tape and I put in the next tape in the chain, I can see the deck moving the tape around a few frames (as the tc moves back and forth) but the tc is from the previous ejected tape and not the newly inserted one.

Thanks for your time and otherwise this deck is great.

Haven’t seen an issue with this on our new 1400. On our old 1200A this was a real pain, but we just did what you did.

One thing you can try is to look for the menu option to enable all the vtr front panel controls when in remote, so that you do not need to switch out of remote to play.

as i remember, some NLE’s (discreet edit?) actually did play the tape a bit til the code showed up, then would cue. if there was no code after like 3 seconds, the NLE would stop the tape and give an error message.

i always hit play when ever i pop in a new tape. old habit i guess

    hope this helps

Thanks for the response, Bob, but this is the first deck I have had problems with. I know the deck is searching the new tape as the tc rocks back and forth (if that is, in fact, any indication). The problem is the tc is left over from the old, ejected tape. I am sure there’s some micro switch somewhere that I am missing. I just haven’t figured it out yet.

Just in case you care, menu 513 should be switched to VAUX.
