By the way, I love it. Great job, nice deck.
i am having problems when batch capturing, not major but annoying. When I inset a new tape after I finish capturing, the deck does not pick up the tc of the new tape until I switch from remote to local, then rewind a bit then play. After I hit play the tc of the new tape will get picked up and FCP will then continue to capture. Is there a setting i need to switch on the deck so that as soon as the tape is inserted the tc will get picked up? As it is now, if i put in a new tape, I can see the moving the tape around a few frames (as the tc moves back and forth) but the tc is form the previous tape and not the new one.

Does anybody else think that there’s a Panasonic deck conspiracy? Why did they discontinue the affordable 1200A deck for the much more expensive 1400? Is it because DVCPROHD has taken over and sales have gone through the roof? Now they can charge us whatever they want to get into the game. Unfair!
I just bought a HDX900 and wanted a deck to digitize from, well, I’m now told the 1200 is no longer available and I cannot afford the 50% more money 1400. Street on the 1200 was affordable, the 1400 isn’t to us small production companies.
Just venting.

On the contrary, when the 1200 was brand new, it was over 30,000 dollars fully populated, now the 1400 comes fully populated for around 20. A good deal in my opinion. Also, you can actually do edits with the 1400 and with the 1200 it was a crap shoot to do frame accurate edits. Also, the 1400 supports 1080p24A.

Wow, I found that answer to my question a year later almost to the day.
Menu 513 needs to be set to VAUX.
