  • Again wondering where the new drivers are for Premiere Pro

A couple of days ago I posted a question about new drivers for the Kona
that could also work with Premiere Pro. I only got a reaction from Jeremy, basically telling me to be patient. Well, I’m not. I want to start working with Premiere Pro and I can’t understand why the drivers that enable me to do that aren’t there. I expected a reaction from AJA, but there is only silence from that side. I don’t understand it. I mean, After Effects has been working with Kona from the very beginning. So, it can’t be that complex technically for AJA. Is there something that I’m missing?? Why the silence and why this waiting??

Evidently there is something you’re missing. One thing you should have learned about AJA by now is that they don’t release anything until it works. If the drivers are not released yet, there is a reason.

AJA has not said anything publicly and I would not expect them to until the product is ready and they post it.

Testing their products until they work reliably is one of the reasons why so many of us use AJA products. I really don’t want some half baked driver to be released that may or may not work.

yeah but the Photoshop integration is new.

maybe that it needs to be engineered so that you can use both application sets ( adobe and apple) on the same machine.

That is easier said than done, and the CS3 apps shipped a month earlier than expected.

Yeah, we currently have an issue with Color and FCP fighting a bit right now when switching between the two apps. I can crash FCP a lot by leaving Color up after renders and those are both Apple products now.

Running two NLEs on the same machine is certainly a nightmare for someone like AJA that has to handle all the I/O for audio and video.

Just FYI, I just got a notice a few moments ago that the CS3 Premium Production bundle is shipping. So that’s finally on the way out.

That’s funny! I got mine about a week ago. Always thought that delivery in the U.S. was far ahead of Europe. Anyways, thanks for the reactions; I’m sure there is a good explanation that we are still waiting for the drivers and what you said might very well be it.

Also if you just can’t wait, both FCP and PPro work fine with the Matrox MXO box. But of course you only get HD/SD outputs with this option. If you are mainly using DVCPROHD like I am, you don’t need the inputs!
