AG-HVX200 connected to AJ-HD1400 by firewire and record to tape
We have just tested the AG-HVX200 by connecting the firewire to the Panasonic AJ-HD1400. The camera controlled the decks play and record functions in HD 720 or 1080i. We played back the tape and it looked good. It this a solution to have uncompressed HD to tape without having to change P2 cards all the time?

DVCPRO HD isn’t uncompressed. The tape records with the exact same compression as the P2 cards or Firestore does.
I work with footage shot with the Varicam and HVX both in the same timeline.

Yes, this is a perfectly viable way to bypass P2 cards. As Shane said, it’s not uncompressed, but it’s the same DVCPRO-HD compression used by the VariCam.

Ditto everyone else, and then you can use the 1400 to bring in the DVCPRo HD into an uncompressed codec and timeline. The 1400 is an awesome deck.
