HD comp rendered in PC AFX, using nested 29.97 comps in 23.98 HD comp. QT is rendered as DNxHD and looks great in QT on PC and Mac, but when I put the QT in AFX or FCP on Mac, I get repeating frames which cause stutter playback in the source QT form the PC which stick to my renders. These duplicate frames are NOT visible in playback or stepping through the QT on the Mac or PC. I am baffled, and will have the artist retime the subcomps, but have never seen anything like this…

Hey Dave – I agree, and this is a file handed to me done this way, which I do not subscribe to in any way nor endorse… I do know how to do these things, but am very curious about the discrepancy between viewing the file in QT and AFX or FCP on the same box. I am trying to get the client to properly do the comps, but in the meantime I am wondering if anybody has seen this kind of strange frame delta between QT/AFX and FCP…
