afx cs3 and cs4 render queue freezes at end of file
Problems with After Effects cs3 and cs4 when trying to render a batch of 20 or more 1 minute clips using quicktime animation codec (from source file also quicktime animation) Render queue freezes at the end of each clip. I have to click the STOP button then wait for the RENDER button to become visible, click on it to continue rendering. Even if I try a single file to render, the queue freezes at the end and does not chime completion though the file was completely rendered. Any help appreciated THX

If this is not a corrupt preferences issue it could be a memory issue. You might try accessing the Secret Preferences. Hold down the shift key as you select General Preferences from the menu. This will reveal a setting called Secret at the bottom of the Prefs pane.
Set it to purge memory every 30 frames or so. Not sure if that’s your issue but its worth a try.

Thanks for your suggestion Brian, unfortunately that did not take care of the problem. For some reason it doesn’t happen on our PC systems running cs3 or cs4, just on Mac intel. Even when after using AFX trying to close the apps is a problem, it just stalls. Any other idea of what it could be?
