After G4 crash, updated OS & FCP to 4.5 & now “configuration error”
My G4 / FCP system drive crashed (Nothing lost because I do regular backups!). The G4 is a 933 Mhz with 2mb L3 cache and 768mb SDRAM. I decided to use this opportunity to upgrade the OS and FCP to OS 10.3.7 and FCP 4.5. After install and attempted run of FCP I got the following error:
CONFIGURATION ERROR
This software requires certain hardware or software which is missing.
* AGP graphics cardOne person suggested I zap the PRAM, which I did. Didn’t solve the problem.
Then they suggested I run Disk Warrior on the boot drive. I ran Disk Warrior on the whole computer. Didn’t solve the problem.
Another person said I should upgrade the OS as high as I could, so I did that. I’m now at Mac OS X 10.3.9.
I called Apple Computer, but they wanted about $300 to answer my question.
I was told by a few experts that FCP doesn’t need a fancy graphics card.
So what do I need to do?
Is the graphics card that came with the G4 not good enough or not operating properly?
Does the driver for the card not good enough for this configuration?
Thanks,
Dave
