after effects to FCP…major loss of resolution
Okay, I created a simple project in AE from three Photoshop files. Flew the three things in, scaled them up, left them on black. Made movie, used animation codec. Size of movie was DV. Movie looks absolutely perfect in quicktime player. Crisp, no blurring, colors are dead-on.
BUT, the same movie looks horrible when I import it into my FCP project. What is horrible? Noticable resolution loss, blurry, colr degradation. My FCP details…using 4.5 HD, DV/DVCPRO codec, video from project is 24 p Panasonic. Size of both AE/FCP are the same.
I also tried Making Movie in AE using a DV codec ( which matches my FCP codec). Final Cut import still looks horrible.
Please give me some advice.

If it looks fine in QT Player, it’s an FCP issue. I seem to recall that FCP 4.5 allowed you the choice of viewing with high quality enabled. Have you enabled high quality in FCP?
(I’m on 5.1.2, so I can’t check that here)
