  • After Effects “Time Stretch” – how to duplicate/undo?

Hi. I have a project that I worked on a while ago. Now someone wants me to replicate it, and I know I used Time Stretch on a layer… but I can’t find any way to see exactly how much I did. Seems to me Time Stretch should be like using a Smart Object in Photoshop : non-destructive. If I wanted to undo a Time Stretch I would think there would be a place you could unclick or something… but I can’t find any evidence of where it lives. This seems so simple that it must be somewhere and I’m just an idiot?

Time Stretch is non-destructive, but it can be hard to find.

If you right-click on any of the column headers in the timeline panel (i.e., where it says “Layer Name”, “Mode”, “Track Matte”, “Parent & Link”, etc.), it will open a context menu. Click Columns, then Stretch.

This will add a column to your timeline display called Stretch. Anything that’s not 100% is what you’ve modified.
